“Abstraction means thinning out one’s impressions, discarding certain characteristics
and highlighting the most important aspects.”
The brief was to interpret a work of art. To analyze the colors, mood and style. Capture the vision within a moodboard that clearly depicts the concept. The moodboard would then guide the selection of props, colors and materials. The room would not focus on being functional, but instead be likend with a creative studio. The challange was to use as few props as possible to really hone in on the essentials.
I chose the artwork Water Lilies by Abbott Handerson Thayer. I was captured by the dramatic play of light and colors. The water lilies becomes almost glowing in white bright light. Such a plain forthwright painting,
coming alive by the creative use of texture.
